Paul's Prediction Bias

Shelagh Malham, of Bangor University, states that individuals of the species Octopus vulgaris can distinguish brightness, and are drawn to horizontal shapes. However, according to Janet Voight at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, there is no evidence that octopuses have colour vision.

Coincidentally, Spain flag has broader yellow than Germany flag, and Serbia flag is more vivid. Thats why Paul chose Spain and Serbia instead of Germany.

No one knows. Maybe because people nowadays stupid than octopus?? LOL.
And please stop photoshopping paul with the other flag in FB.

p/s: Wanna eat Takoyaki! yea, the one with little tiny octopus in it.

Paul not-so-Smith

Paul who? Paul is a common octopus used as an oracle to predict the results of German international football matches since Euro 2008.

Paul 2-year-old octopus oracle - was born in England but raised in Germany -- ironically, has predicted a German win over England in Sunday's World Cup game. And his predictions in South Africa 2010 are still 100%.

Since the latest prediction, Germans are no longer praising their octopus, instead calling for Paul to be cooked and eaten. LOL
Many German fans were unhappy with Paul's decision to plump for Spain and fearing a backlash, Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luiz Rodriguez Zapatero has joked he will offer state protection to Paul.
Zapatero said: "I am concerned for the octopus ... I am thinking of sending him a protective team."
Plus, Spanish environment and fisheries minister Elena Espinosa added
"On Monday, I shall be at the European Council of Ministers and I shall be asking for a [fishing] ban on Paul the octopus so the Germans do not eat him."

More to come about Paul's possible selection bias. Because of the flag? the box?

Plastic, Long, Elephant.

What's plastic, a metre long, brightly coloured and sounds like an elephant? It's the vuvuzela, the noise-making trumpet of South African football fans, and it's come to symbolise the sport in the country.
It's an instrument, but not always a musical one. Describing the atmosphere in a stadium packed with thousands of fans blowing their vuvuzelas is difficult. Up close it's an elephant, sure, but en masse the sound is more like a massive swarm of very angry bees.
Old Trafford and vuvuzela? How about that.
No more chants or cheers.

World Cup Edition II

So, as predicted, France did not managed to beat Uruguay. Just 3 shots on target from France. And 10 men Uruguay did very well holding their defensive line.
Fact ; For the third World Cup in a row, France failed to win their opening game.

Tonight game,  England vs USA. First test for Capello helllloo. haha

Stats: Wayne Rooney was involved in more goals than any other player in Europe during the qualification campaign, with nine goals and five assists.

Another game, Argentina vs Nigeria.
Argentina without Cambiasso. And Deigo Milito is the sixth-choice forward.
So, as the world want to see the Best World Player Lionel Messi in action, he is still struggling to find his best form under Diego Maradona.

Tonight is another lepaking night sambil tengok bola.

World Cup Edition I

Opening match baru je habis. Quite good la for an opening match..Selalu game bosan je, tapi tadi game menarik. Plus dengan lagu lagu penyokong sout africa.

Second match after this, France vs Uruguay.
Facts about these two teams.
Uruguay ; Diego Forlan. Cometh the hour, cometh the man? In recent seasons, Forlan has proved to be the player for the big occasion and in May scored both of Atletico Madrid's goals in the Europa League final. Forlan top-scored for Uruguay in qualification with seven goals and, in his only match of the 2002 World Cup, netted in a 3-3 draw with Senegal. The striker has reached double figures in each of his past six seasons in Spain.
Stats: Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan scored 71 goals between them in all competitions last season. France's five forwards - Thierry Henry, Sidney Govou, Andre-Pierre Gignac, Djibril Cisse and Nicolas Anelka - managed just 59.
